Feeding Instructions
Because of the importance of moisture in a raw diet, we recommend rehydrating Freeze-Dried Formula for optimum nutrition absorption. To rehydrate, add 1 tablespoon of water for every nugget or 1/4 cup of water for 4 nuggets. For best rehydrating results, break nugget into small pieces and mix thoroughly with water to force moisture into product.
Feed adult cats the equivalent of 2 - 3% of their body weight in rehydrated food daily. We recommend feeding your pet twice daily, so you should divide the total daily feeding weight in half and feed once in the morning and once in the evening. Factors such as level of activity, age, health, metabolism and breed play a part in the necessary feeding quantities of all animals. Please be sure to monitor your pet's dietary needs and adjust the feeding quantities accordingly.
Transition Instructions
Transition slowly. Allow a minimum of one week for your pet's digestive system to properly adjust from a highly processed diet to a new diet of freeze-dried raw food. For days 1 - 3, begin by mixing Primal Formula into your pet's current food at a ratio that your pet will tolerate; you can start with as little as 1/4 Primal to 3/4 of your pet's current food. If your pet accepts the raw food during days 1 - 3, feed your pet raw foods only for the morning meal and their current food for the evening meal for days 4-7. When your pet has transitioned successfully (consuming the new food readily, healthy, firm stool), you can begin feeding the new food for both meals.
